Course Description: The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Essentials of Critical Care Orientation program provides 64 hours of online didactic information organized by body system. Modules include pulmonary, cardiovascular, neurology, renal, endocrine, gastrointestinal, hematology and multisystem. Didactic content is designed to be integrated with interactive learning activities and clinical practice.
Target Audience: This program is designed for the nurse new to critical care (ICU, intermediate, progressive care, and telemetry) but is applicable to nurses working in the PACU, emergency department, pediatrics, medical/surgical units. The program is also used by nurses reviewing for certification exams (e.g., CCRN).

PED610 Foundations in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation (PBMT)
Course Description: The Association for Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses (APHON) and Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC) sponsored Foundations in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation course is required for nurses providing care to pediatric blood and marrow transplant patients. Content includes the fundamentals of bone and marrow transplantation, types of transplant, HLA typing, preparative regimes, transplant (administration infusion), nursing implications complications, engrafting, immune reconstitution, acute graft versus host disease, ambulatory care management, psychosocial aspects of patient and family, and self-care for the caregiver.
Target Audience: This course is required for nurses in the Pediatric BMT Unit and highly recommended for nurses providing care to pediatric blood and marrow transplant patients in PICU or floating to PBMT
Frequency: This two-day course is offered two to three times per year.

Course Description: The Preceptor Program provides information on the roles and responsibilities of the preceptor, including role model, educator, socializer, and mentor. Content includes principles of adult learning, learning styles, Benner’s model of novice to expert, effective feedback, conflict resolution, evaluation and documentation of competency.
Target Audience: This course is intended for Methodist Healthcare employees responsible for orientation of newly hired staff. Manager approval required.
Frequency: This one-day course is offered six or more times per year.

Course Description: The Advisory Board Center for Frontline Nursing Leadership Academy provides opportunities for frontline and direct care nursing staff to develop and practice emerging management and leadership skills through focused group projects.

Course Description: Professional Development for Nurse Managers provides opportunities for clinical nursing managers and directors. It is based on action learning principles and provides opportunities for reflective practice.

Frequency: This one-day series is offered monthly biannually in January and July.

PROF830/New Manager Orientation and Enrichment ORIENT130
Course Description: The purpose of New Manager Orientation and Enrichment training is to provide opportunities for successful management and leadership experiences for new Methodist Healthcare managers and directors. The manager/director benefits from a mentored partnership with experienced health care leaders, administrators, preceptors and human resources consultants. This partnership assists the manager’s development and effective application of evidence-based leadership and performance management skills, knowledge and abilities.
Target Audience: This program is designed for managers and directors new to Methodist Healthcare.
Frequency: New Manager Orientation and Enrichment (NMOE) training is an evolving learning experience over two years, beginning with six days classroom sessions and continuing with support-based cohort quarterly sessions.

PROF840 Publishing Workshop
Course Description: The Publishing Workshop provides an opportunity for Methodist Healthcare staff to develop and publish clinical research in refereed journals and periodicals.
