Wanda Gibbons has joined the leadership team as the Chief Nursing Officer for the Methodist Hospital. 

Wanda has spent the past eight years as the Chief Nursing Officer at Baptist Health System in Knoxville, TN, and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL.  Most recently, Wanda served as a Senior Consultant with Baptist Health in Jacksonville, FL, where she was responsible for the successful launch of the Operational Performance Improvement Department to support Baptist’s five hospital system.  Wanda will be returning to Texas where she served as a Vice President for the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX from 1988 to 1999. 

Wanda earned her BSN from the Medical University of South Carolina, a Masters of Healthcare Administration from Duke University and is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Additionally, Wanda earned her Black Belt Certification in Six Sigma.

After evaluation by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, Methodist Hospital, home of the Methodist Heart Hospital, has been designated as an accredited Chest Pain Center.  To achieve this distinction, the hospital demonstrated its expertise and commitment to quality patient care and met or exceeded a wide set of standards related to heart care, including:

  • Quickly assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with chest pain

  • Ensuring personnel are trained to the highest standards

  • Having a functional design that promotes optimal patient care

  • Continually seeking to improve processes and procedures

  • Integrating the emergency department with the local EMS
